Having a site means nothing if you dont follow some rules to keep visitors coming back. Here you will find a list of rules I have made for sites, keep in mind these are more like guidlines seeing as some could very by the type of site you are making etc...
- - DON'T steal any graphics or content from any site on the net (Note: Not giving credit is stealing or takign something and erasing their credit or taking someones work or layout and distributing it as your own.)
- - Credit. Every site needs a visable credit page that is easy to find. It's a page where you list where you got anything used in your site that you didn't make yourself (ex: PNG's, paintbrushes etc...)
- - Updating. If you're not updating people simply get bored with your site. They look for new content. You should update about once a week, once every two weeks the very least.
- - Make your pages easy to navagate through. If people can't find their way they'll get annoyed. Think about it though, would you like to have to search for something for hours and hours?
- - When you change your sites layout, make sure you change ALL the pages layouts. Seeing multi layouts in one site is annoying and looks unorganized and messy. and to put it plain simple: Lazy and unappealing.
- - Affliates for your site should be displaid on every page not just one and they must be visable. It's a good idea to have a maximum of about 10 to 15 affliates, otherwise people wont be likly to visit their sites, just like if you have an affiliate with 30 some spots...people wont even bother looking at the list.
- - Change your layout about once a month. This helps keep poeples intrest. It helps to keep navigation in the same spots so its easy to find all the time. Gets a bit boring seeing the same layout over and over past a month don't you think?
